Henderson retires after more than two decades of service as executive director of Whitney Benefits – Sheridan Media


The longtime executive director of an educational foundation in Sheridan has retired. Ron Richter of Sheridan Media has the details.

Henderson retires

After 22 years of loyal service, Patrick Henderson, Managing Director of Whitney Benefits, has retired. In a letter from Whitney Board Chairman Roy Garber, it is stated that Henderson wanted to retire early for unforeseen medical reasons. The letter further states that Henderson served the Whitney Board and the community with a passion and success that did not go unnoticed and under his guidance as Executive Director, Whitney steadily grew and pivoted. to meet the ever-changing needs of the community.

Garber writes that it would be impossible to list all of Henderson’s contributions to Whitney and the community, but a few highlights of Henderson’s impact over the past two decades include expanding the interest-free student loan program of Whitney to include Johnson County students. expansion and construction at Sheridan College, including career and technology programs and the Allied Health project; facilitating cooperation between the University of Wyoming and Sheridan College to create several staffed positions, including those in agriculture and allied health, and countless partnerships to benefit the community, including trail building, the construction of Whitney Commons, the Whitney Ice Rink and the donation of water for green spaces and parks in the town of Sheridan.

Garber said that on behalf of the Whitney Board of Trustees, he would like to express his deepest gratitude and acknowledge the accomplishments that Henderson pushed the foundation to achieve and that they are confident that Edward A. Whitney would be proud of it all. what was achieved and the people who were served during Henderson’s time as executive director. The Whitney Board of Trustees has begun the process of staffing the position of Executive Director and understands that finding the right person to lead the foundation shouldn’t be rushed. In the meantime, Whitney staff will continue to fulfill the mission of Edward A. Whitney in their day-to-day duties under the supervision of the Board of Directors.
