Redmon and Perez sworn to Katy ISD school board
Last night at a regular school board meeting full of recognition throughout the Katy ISD district, Lance Redmon and Victor Perez were sworn in and began their new terms.
Redmon continues to serve the district in second term
Lance Redmon continues to serve on the Katy ISD Board of Directors in position 2. Redmon was also elected to the position of Vice President. Redmon was first elected to the Katy ISD School Board in May 2019. He graduated from Katy High School. He has lived in Katy with his wife for 37 years and currently has three children who attend Katy ISD schools.
Perez pledges to pursue opportunities to earn Katy’s top teacher salary
Victor Perez is currently serving his first term as No. 1. Perez recently retired from a career as CFO of a public energy company and former commercial banker. He and his wife of 47 years have three children who graduated from Katy ISD. They currently have eight grandchildren in the school district. His whole family was present to support him when he took office.
“It was a great honor and privilege to be sworn in as a member of the Katy ISD Board of Directors,” says Victor Perez. “It’s a responsibility I take very seriously. My first priority is to work throughout the 2022-2023 budget process to immediately seek opportunities to secure the highest possible salary increase for our teachers.
Both Redmon and Perez took part in the remainder of the regular closed board meetings last night after their swearing-in.
Elected school board officers
Also, last night the Katy ISD Board of Directors elected their slate of officers to serve for the upcoming school year. Greg Schulte was elected president 2022-2023, Lance Redmon vice-president and Ashley Vann secretary.
“I am humbled by the board’s confidence in my leadership and thank them and our community for the confidence you both have instilled in me to continue as chair of your school board,” said Greg Schulte, chair. of the board of Katy ISD. “It is an absolute privilege to serve the Katy ISD community and I look forward to working alongside the administrators as we enter the 2022-2023 school year.”
The Katy ISD Board of Directors is the governing body that oversees and shapes district policies. Each position has a three-year term.
The current Katy ISD Board includes: Greg Schulte – President, Lance Redmon – Vice President, Ashley Vann – Secretary, Dawn Champagne – Member, Rebecca Fox – Member, Leah Wilson – Member and Victor Perez – Member.
Valedictorian, Salutatorians, Katy High School FFA Recognized
In a very long meeting last night (4 hours and 17 minutes in public meeting), the District recognized valedictorians and salutatorians from each high school. Learn more about these exceptional students.

Katy High School’s FFA Poultry Team was also recognized for winning the State Championship in the Poultry Assessment category at the recent Career Development event.

Katy ISD approves new positions
The Board of Trustees also approved Dr. Emily Craig as the district’s new Assistant Superintendent for Secondary School Leadership and Support at last night’s meeting. Dr. Craig replaces Jeff Stocks, who will retire at the end of the school year.
The board also approved the appointment of three new principals: Thea Wofford for Exley Elementary, Tanya Heard for Rylander Elementary and Jason Brown for Williams Elementary.
This was the last regular meeting of the Katy ISD Board of Directors for the 2021-2022 academic year.
